Noble Square

John and Mark Noble, the first non-native American settlers to the Norwood Park area of Chicago, lend their name to Noble Street. In turn, Noble Street, now located in a small neighborhood between Wicker Park and Ukrainian Village, gives its name to Noble Square.

Modern-day Noble Square is located in West Town just northwest of the Loop and east of East Village. Its boundaries run from the Kennedy Expressway and Ashland to Division and Grand. Yet, recent trends in real estate tend to group this area with Wicker Park, so in time the distinct edges of this interesting locale may begin to fade.

While you can still find famous landmarks, such as the Holy Trinity Polish Mission that bear a crucial history, Noble Square these days is mostly residential. Dwellings include single-family homes, multi-unit condominiums, and newly renovated flats. If you head for Chicago Avenue, Noble Square can keep you entertained for hours. You will find live music, dancing, and enough drinks to wet your whistle among the places to shop and eat. For those who prefer amusement of the aquatic variety, you can swim at the Eckhart Park indoor pool or take the kids to see the water spray features at the playground.
