North Center

North Center is north of Roscoe Village and South of Ravenswood. Immigrants moved into the area that started in the mid-19th century as farmland. Even greenhouse technology was first developed there. It is primarily a beautiful residential street it also has many of the best neighborhoods for dining and entertainment. It has a mix of urban and suburban feel and is very centered around local establishments.

It has small neighborhood parks and some of the best elementary schools. If you are young and looking to start a family in the future this is a great place to start and have the balance of nightlife, friends, and family. The North Center Town Square has many festivals and markets. It is lively with shopping, cafes, and restaurants. Most of the streets in the residential areas are lined with trees and yards with brick homes and Victorian façades. The area was known as “Bricktown” because it was once a center of brick making industry.

There is a great community of neighbors and business owners that work together in the North Center Neighbors Association which is a 510(c)3 nonprofit. They work together to build a better community by helping others, hosting events, and supporting causes that preserve their community.
