Norwood Park

Norwood Park is filled with green lawns and older residences. It has a village feel and a strong community. The Chicago and Northwestern Railway built tracks through the area in the 1850s which created an easy commute to the city. It was built initially as a resort for tired city dwellers to have a rest and relax in its countryside setting. You will find many large lots and wide streets that have the historic houses that were built when it was founded. The streets are designed in a curvilinear style that has round winding edges, unlike most grid pattern neighborhoods. The homes range from old historic to modern construction.

There are a few parts of Norwood Park that have their uniqueness. Norwood Park East is surrounded by nature and putting greens. Norwood Park West has a suburban feel and plenty of lawn and medical campus. Old Norwood Park has elegant stately homes and lush tree cover that is hard to find inside the city. In any season the area is beautiful, in summer green or white from the winter snow. It has remained a family-centered neighborhood and has in the past leaned towards the more conservative side but today boasts some great neighborhood pubs and restaurants where you will find a low-key laid-back atmosphere.
