Reynoldstown

Reynoldstown is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Atlanta. What’s the draw? Its location near all of the popular areas in eastern intown Atlanta, its long 150 year history, and the mix of housing units from charming original 1900s single-family cottages to modern apartment buildings with large lofts. Older residents are holding tight in the neighborhood and a younger population has discovered its walkability and trails for walking, running, and cycling.

Reynoldstown was one of the first African-American neighborhoods to develop in Atlanta. Beginning in the 1860s, freed slaves found the area to work on the local railroad. Today, it’s the younger generation that are attracted to its progressive mentality and rich heritage. Reynoldstown offers lovely paved trails along the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine where families can exercise.

Foodies are well aware of Reynoldstown due to the cool restaurants that have opened in the area. Before you head out onto the Beltline, get in line to try Muchacho, a bright colorful coffee shop with delicious tacos and other breakfast options. Next door, Golden Eagle, set in a former train depot, beckons visitors to its spacious bar and tasty small plates and entrees. The bartender will be sure to quench your thirst with a creative tiki drink.

You’ll meet your neighbors at one of the most popular festivals held every September in Lang Carson Park. The Wheelbarrow Festival features a 5K run, scavenger hunt, live music, and a cornhole tournament.
