NoMa

Located to the northeast of Union Station, NoMa stands for “North of Massachusetts Avenue” and includes three different neighborhoods – Eckington, the H Street Corridor, and Sursum Corda – and a district known as Swampoodle.

Home to the Union Market, Gallaudet University – the first US college entirely dedicated to providing education to deaf and hard-of-hearing students – and National Public Radio, NoMa is a vibrant blend of old and new, history and modernity.

This is visible in the area’s creative mix of restaurants, businesses, and cultural venues.

Food fanatics will love NoMa for its range of inspiring, worldwide cuisine, which includes Italian and Latin American establishments, as well as fresh, seasonal produce available all year round at the local, iconic Union Market.

For shopping lovers, the border between NoMa and Ivy City is a must-see. This is where lots of eclectic shops have opened up recently, offering unmissable opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime bargains.

Cycling is one of the best ways to explore this neighborhood – simply pop to one of the many Capital Bikeshare stations in the area, and hop on the saddle. And if you are a music fan, you absolutely don’t want to miss a glance – and a photo – at the Uline Arena, where the Beatles played their first US concert.
