A neighborhood rich in its own culture and history, many of the oldest homes in Barton Hills date back to the 1930s. Although many newer buildings have been constructed on tear-down lots, the interspersed historical architecture allows for a unique aesthetic coupling. The entire area is made vibrant with rich and bountiful greenery.

Touted as a great spot for young families to thrive, the area is served by the award-winning Austin Independent School District. Featuring some of the top schools in the state, the Austin ISD institutions in the Barton Hills area notably include Barton Hills Elementary School.
