Also known as the Loft District, Callowhill is situated opposite Broad Street from Fairmount and Spring Garden, just north of Chinatown. The nickname “Loft District” is a nod to the large amount of sleek, stylish, contemporary high-rise buildings and condos. The typical Philly rowhomes, in fact, that are so popular in many other neighborhoods of the Pennsylvania capital, are nowhere to be seen in Callowhill.
