West Flagler

This neighborhood is named for the West Flaglar Street which runs from Bayfront Park all the way west to the Ronald Reagan Turnpike. Considered part of Little Havana, West Flaglar is surrounded by a variety of ethnic restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries, many with an emphasis on Cuban cuisine.

A modest neighborhood, West Flagler has a population of around 45,000 residents, primarily Hispanic or Latino, living in single family homes. The community offers a suburban mix of families with children and retirees. The local public schools, Kensington Park Elementary and Miami Senior High School, are considered above average.

Locals and visitors visit nearby Magic City Casino to try their hand at poker or slot machines, or to be entertained through live music events or jai alai. Other area activities include shopping at the Central Shopping Plaza or dancing, concerts and theater at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium.

If you want to kick things up a notch, just jump onto West Flaglar Street and make the short drive directly into downtown Miami. Better yet, hop aboard one of the free Metromovers for fast access to the marinas, parks, art scene or nightlife.

When it’s time to head out of town, the Miami International Airport is just a short distance away.
