Peoplestown

Centrally located about two miles southeast of Atlanta's downtown, accessibility is the key word to describe Peoplestown. Everything is convenient to this small neighborhood. If you need to get to the airport, it’s only a 10-minute drive. Looking for some exercise or nightlife? Peoplestown is connected to the popular Beltline trail and near Grant Park and the Beacon, a unique retail, dining and cultural destination of restaurants and bars, a coffee shop, a bakery, a gourmet market, retail shopping, childcare, medical and wellness centers that creates a neighborhood experience.

Established as a predominantly working-class and historically Black neighborhood, today residents are thrilled to live in this up-and-coming area. On the market to purchase or rent are older ranches, charming bungalows, renovated homes, and new construction. Investors have entered into the community mix as gentrification continues. There’s even affordable housing through PadSplit, a space sharing group that offers furnished rooms with all utilities shared with housemates.

Young people continue to move into Peoplestown, some due to the transformation of the former Turner Field, which was purchased by Georgia State University for its Panther football team to play home games. As the neighborhood continues to transform, two new supermarkets have opened and the southside trail of the Beltline has a Peoplestown entrance giving way along the former railway corridor to connect it to other neighborhoods.
