Tarrytown

Situated just west of downtown Austin is the vibrant neighborhood Tarrytown. Originally simply an expanse of farmland, now the area is one of the most desirable spots to live in the city. With oak tree-lined streets, a spring-fed pool, and easy access to Lake Austin residents of the community are entrenched in nature’s bounty. Lush and verdant, the area has many well-kept homes and a strong sense of southern comfort.

With a small town vibe, many of the homes here are owned by the same families that have resided in them for decades. Locals who grow up here often stick close to their roots and buy property in the area as they leave their family homes. Mom and pop shops are common with plenty of popular local independent businesses.

The area holds Austin’s oldest public golf course, the Muny, where residents can enjoy a morning round. Gorgeous Mayfield Park includes over 20 acres of sprawling greenery completed by actual live peacocks roaming the grounds.

Families with students living here have access to top tier learning institutions. Tarrytown is served by the Austin Independent School District, which has some of the highest ranking schools in the state. Casis Elementary School, O. Henry Middle School, and Austin High School all place highly amongst Texas institutions.
