Steiner Ranch

A sprawling master-planned community in the verdant hills of Lake Austin and Lake Travis, Steiner Ranch is in northwest Austin and quite removed from the downtown area. Locals consider it an extremely desirable locale to live within the Austin city limits. Adjacent to the lakes and a major wildlife preserve with over 12 miles of hiking trails, there is almost no limit to the area’s options for outdoor recreation.

With resort-style living amenities, the neighborhood is the result of a planning project headed by Taylor Woodrow. Spanning 4,600 acres, the adventurous will be delighted to learn there are opportunities for golfing, swimming, fishing, boating, and more. Within Steiner Ranch itself are two community parks, two recreation centers complete with swimming pools, along with numerous tennis and basketball courts.

Four Points Shopping Center and Lakeline Mall have plenty of retail businesses to keep your shopping needs covered. Although about a 30-45 minute drive to downtown Austin, the close proximity to major highways make travel a leisurely experience. Locals adore a restaurant called The Oasis, a multi-deck building on Lake Travis that has an incredible view of the water.

Young professionals and college students alike flock seasonally to Devil’s Cove, an inlet on Lake Travis that becomes a party event every weekend during the summer. Revelers come to the area in boats to play loud music, lay out on floats, and play the hot months away.

Steiner Ranch is served by the Leander Independent School District, which includes many top-ranking schools in the state like Steiner Ranch Elementary School. Charter and private schools are also available for those seeking options, like School in the Hills Montessori, and The Goddard School of Steiner Ranch.
