Salt Lake City

Job opportunities, a strong housing market, and a vibrant downtown — Utah’s capital city has it all. So much so, Salt Lake City hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. Founded in 1847 on a grid layout, the city today covers 110.8 square miles, and has a median age of 32.5 (2022). Government, trade, transportation, utilities, and professional and business services are the main drivers of its economy.

Several homes in Salt Lake City have been built in English, Georgian, French Colonial, Spanish Colonial, and Cape Cod styles. The typical home value is $588,892, up 6.3% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). The Utah Pride Festival, the Dark Arts Festival, and a spring festival are among the annual events that contribute to the city’s appeal.

Salt Lake City is served by I-15, I-80, and I-215. The neighborhood of Liberty Wells, bordered by I-15 to the west and I-80 to the south, offers bungalows and Ranch-style homes. The Sugar House area, just south of I-80, is popular with singles and young professionals. Yet, it’s a great family-friendly neighborhood that features cozy bungalows. Further north, the quieter area of Yalecrest contains safe streets, large yards, and homes ranging from Tudor cottages to modern Colonial-style dwellings.

With its proximity to some of the best skiing, hiking, fishing and mountain biking the U.S. has to offer, Salt Lake City is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream as it continues to grow and diversify.
