What was once the site of an active sawmill and a battlefield during the Civil War is today a popular Southeast Atlanta neighborhood for home buyers. Developers have discovered Browns Mill Park and new construction can be found all over the neighborhood. What’s attracting buyers? A convenient five-minute drive to downtown Atlanta is high on the list as is its relaxed suburban vibe.
New construction is priced for $400,000, while the median list home price is going for $250,000. There’s the Park at Brown’s Mill, a gated community of townhomes. Or there’s Browns Mill Walk at The Vineyards, a new single family home development. Apartment complexes, like Ashton Browns Mill and the Vineyards of Brown’s Mill, are available for renters.
Residents of Browns Mill Park head over to the Browns Mill Golf Course, a scenic 18-hole course open to the public. To its north are the Swann Preserve. Another nearby option is South Bend Park, which connects to the Southtowne PATH Trail, a three-mile walking trail through the area’s lush natural scenery. Browns Mill residents are proud to be Atlanta’s first Community Urban Food Forest, which produces a wide variety of fresh, flavorful, and healthy fruits, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms for public consumption. The location was chosen because it was a working farm owned by Ruby and Willie Morgan.
