Southwest of downtown Atlanta lies a small narrow swath of charming affordable homes known as Adair Park. Considered a hidden gem to those who live there, the neighborhood offers century-old homes with original characteristics such as fireplaces, stained glass, and wraparound porches that are desirable to first-time homebuyers or investors. There is a lot of restorations taking place to make these special historic jewels shine once again. Residents enjoy the many greenspaces in the area. Murphy Avenue beckons visitors to its playgrounds, tennis courts, baseball fields, and basketball courts on the northern park and at Lexington Avenue is a southern park. If you want to partake in an urban farm, Adair Park hosted the first near the Westside Trail. For runners and others out for a refreshing walk, the Southside Trail was recently opened. It is the first segment of the Atlanta Beltline, which is enticing families from Adair Park.
The neighborhood is also attracting artists to its blossoming cultural offerings. Academy Lofts at Adair Park, which is located in a historic, Gothic Revival brick building, features works of local artists. Large murals celebrating the culture of Atlanta have been unveiled at the parks. Restaurateurs are opening new locations in Adair Park featuring barbeque, chicken, ribs, and other Southern delicacies.
