Zilker

Seen as a thriving neighborhood, Zilker is an area to keep residents entertained. With tons of dining and options to live and play in the district, there are several trendy venues for live music and theater as well as local art galleries and bars. Truly a cultured slice of Austin, it is located next to the park its named for, with over 350 acres of verdant recreational spaces, biking and jogging trails.

Residents here live within walking distance of the Barton Creek Greenbelt, affording even more opportunities for fun outdoors. It’s a great option for individuals and families who want to remain in the city, but have a bit more access to the abundance of nature. Right in the heart of downtown, Zilker Park is adjacent to Lady Bird Lake.

Founded in 1917, the park has canoe and bike rentals, a large playground, and even a disc golf course. The Barton Springs Pool is a rare oasis in the city, encouraging swimmers in the warmer months to enjoy its beautiful spring-fed waters. Locals and visitors alike flock here for large scale annual music events like Austin City Limits Music Festival and South by Southwest. With access to downtown to the north, there is never a shortage of shopping and eating to do in the area, with dozens of amazing restaurants and retail chains at residents fingertips.

Zilker is part of the Austin Independent School District, which includes many of the very best public high schools in the state of Texas. The neighborhood is zoned for Zilker Elementary School, and parents can choose to send students to high ranking schools like Austin High School or the Liberal Arts & Science Academy.
