Cambridge

Perhaps best known for being home to Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – two of the world’s leading higher education institutions – Cambridge is a New England town located just across the Charles River.

With its picturesque streets, colorful buildings, and buzzing student community, Cambridge is a warm, welcoming, and diverse area that both residents and tourists end up falling in love with.

Dating back to 1631 – when the first houses were built in the area that is now Cambridge – this is also one of the oldest districts of Boston. You don’t need to be a student, though, to enjoy Cambridge, as the area still makes for a great day out. Lose yourself in its quaint stores, sip a freshly brewed coffee in Harvard Square, and visit one of its famous museums.

And don’t be fooled into thinking that Cambridge is a great destination for academics only – its Fresh Pond Reservation, for example, is the perfect spot to lounge on a warm, sunny day, or to jog or cycle if you are feeling like doing something a bit more dynamic.
