Kidd Springs

Kidd Springs is a combination of present day, yesterday and Oak Cliff conveniences rolled into one ultra-trendy neighborhood. The Kidds Springs Park and Rec is not only where locals hang out, but also where this unique corner of Dallas began. Located in the North Oak Cliff region, James Kidd bought this area back in the 1870s. The purchase included the actual spring, which still bears his name. The park began as a private park in 1895 when the Kidd Springs Fishing Club started to build a small spring fed lake. The park then went on to become a part of the Dallas Parks and Rec system in 1947.The neighborhood itself runs from Zane Boulevard on the east, Tyler Street on the west and West Davis and Colorado Boulevard north and south, respectively. The boundaries of the neighborhood is considered the Miller and Stemmons Historic District, which interestingly, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Kidd Springs is also in close proximity to Kessler Heights, Kessler Park and the Bishop Arts District.

As the central hub for all things community, the Kidd Springs Park and Recreation Center is all about being social. There is a scenic lake, swimming pools, tennis courts and butterfly gardens.
