Kansas City

The origin of the “City of Fountains” dates back to the early 1800s, when French fur traders arrived by the Missouri River and built cabins along the waterway. Today, the 128.3 square-mile city sits on the eastern edge of Kansas, on the border with Missouri. Its median age is 33.5 (2022), and main industries include transportation and distribution, e-commerce, manufacturing, animal health, technology, and finance.


Kansas City’s distinctive neighborhoods feature unique and beautiful Shirtwaist Houses, as well as Ranch and Tudor-style homes. The typical home value is $174,679, up 11.7% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). The city hosts several annual events to delight and entertain residents and visitors, such as cultural festivals, a fringe festival, the American Royal Rodeo, and the American Royal Barbecue.


Getting in and out of Kansas City is easy. Major thoroughfares including I-635 and I-70. Within easy access to I-70 and a few miles south of downtown is the historic and family-friendly Strawberry Hill neighborhood. Here, colorful Victorian homes stand among brick Ranch-style homes and apartment buildings. The I-60 also provides quick access to Northeast, a mostly residential area.
