Originally called Live Oak Springs in the early 19th century, modern Oak Hill itself is not an incorporated community but is still a well-known and loved neighborhood in Austin. Circled around U.S. Route 290/TX-71 and Williamson Creek, the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods (OHAN) says that their area includes the homes along Brodie Lane all the way down to the Travis and Hays County line and bordering Circle Drive and Thomas Springs Road, right on down to Southwest Parkway.

As one of the biggest neighborhoods in all of Austin, West Oak Hill it is one of the oldest at the “Y,” intersection where Hwy. 290 splits out from Hwy. 71. The greater overall region stretches to wooded areas with more ranch style homes as well as more recently constructed master-planned communities.

A local hotspot called Torchy’s Tacos is in the area, and residents can grab a cup of Joe the hip Bee Cave Coffee Co, with plenty more access to local strip malls and franchise joints. Parks in the area include the Oakland Village Park, and the kiddos love to play at the Covered Bridge Playground.

West Oak Hill is served by the greater Austin Independent School District, one of the premiere school districts in the entire country. Top performing high schools like the Liberal Arts & Science Academy are part of this district, along with Austin High School and other high ranking institutions that help Austinites with families to settle here in droves.
