Manchester

Straddling the banks of the Merrimack River, surrounded by verdant forests and rolling mountain ranges, is the city of Manchester in southern New Hampshire. Founded in 1751, the state’s largest city today covers 34.9 square miles, and is the business and financial center of northern New England. It’s home to several key sectors, including electronics, financial services, semiconductors, communication services, industrial machinery, and aerospace and defense. Its median age is 36.7 (2022).

Common architectural home styles in New Hampshire include Georgian, Colonial, Cape Cod, and Queen Anne. The average price of a home in Manchester is $382,213, up 11% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). Local events, such as the NH Veg Fest, craft fairs, a holiday market, and fall fun festival help keep residents engaged and entertained year-round.

Two interstate highways, the north-south I-93 and north-south veering east-west I-293, serve Manchester. Downtown Manchester, across the river from I-293, offers historic and established single-family homes that share the area with lofts, studios, and penthouse apartments. The East End neighborhood, closer to I-93, has a mix of single-family homes, apartments, and townhomes. Woodland Pond sits on the northwestern tip of the city, comprising larger single-family homes, apartments, and condos.

If that wasn’t enough, Manchester also offers safe streets, cultural diversity, no sales tax, and access to excellent skiing and snowboarding.
