Covering 7.3 square miles, it’s a city that offers a balance of natural and commercial spaces that residents appreciate. Its median age is 32.7 (2022), and its economy is mainly driven by healthcare, tourism, public administration, manufacturing, and professional and semi-professional services.

Lancaster’s residential neighborhoods are filled with late 19th-century Victorian-era rowhouses. The typical home value is $326,303, which is up 11.2% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). Enhancing the city’s appeal are annual events that include the Rhubarb Festival, the Spring Artwalk, and the Lancaster Balloon Festival.

Many major roadways pass through or around the city, including U.S. 30 and 222, and Pennsylvania Routes 272 and 283. The family-friendly neighborhood of Manheim Township, on the city’s southern end, combines the excitement of Lancaster’s downtown with the sereneness of the Dutch countryside. Leola, meanwhile, is full of beautiful, historic homes with expansive yards. School Lane Hills is more upscale, and while homes here have a luxurious feel, they’re all unique.
