Little Havana

As the name implies, Little Havana is at the heart of Miami’s Cuban cultural scene, with Latin American art galleries, cigar shops, restaurants and music venues. Located on the southside of the neighborhood, Calle Ocho (Southwest Eighth Street) celebrates famous Latin artists, including Celia Cruz, Julio Iglesias and Gloria Estefan, on the Calle Ocho Walk of Fame. The thoroughfare is rich with bakeries, fruit stands, ice cream shops, murals, mosaic tiles and other symbols of Cuban heritage.

Hop across the street to find the famous Máximo Gómez Park, known locally as Domino Park, where locals gather to talk politics and play dominoes, or go to nearby Tower Theater to see independent and revival films or listen to live Latin music.

Sample strong coffees, classic Cuban sandwiches or authentic empanadas from one of Little Havana’s delectable Cuban restaurants. You can order treats to go through the ventanitas, or little windows, that are popular in the area.

If sports are more your thing, head north to LoanDepot Park to catch a Miami Marlin’s baseball game. If you prefer, swing by Jose Marti Park for some green space with a view or check out one of the area marinas found on the nearby Miami River.
