As a seasoned member of the award winning Vanderploeg Team at Douglas Elliman, Karan employs a data-driven approach to his profession which spans 20 years as a real estate investor and 10 years as a real estate advisor.
Karan was born in New Delhi and spent the first 10 years of his life in India before relocating to Sunnyside, Queens in 1991. He attributes part of his success to the challenges he faced assimilating to a different culture with limited English vocabulary. He cherishes that time as it laid the foundation for his character and determination.
After graduating from Archbishop Molloy High School, Karan moved to Murray Hill with his family as he accepted a scholarship from Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems at the Downtown Manhattan campus of Pace University. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and was recruited by Deutsche Bank where he honed his analytical skills as a business analyst.
Karan credits his father for his introduction into real estate as he initiated the spark that resulted in a life-long passion. With his support, Karan purchased his first one-bedroom condo on the Upper West Side and resided there for five years. He later moved to the Upper East Side as he pursued additional investments driven by the Second Avenue Subway extension and he currently resides there with his growing family.
With a primary focus on Manhattan's high-end condo market, Karan has established a niche by working with sellers and landlords located uptown or downtown. He leverages data analysis in each transaction to establish objective conversations with buyers who are interested in his exclusive listings. By focusing on the data, Karan is able to increase the probability of a successful sale by supporting the asking price.
Outside of work, Karan enjoys working out, playing basketball, and keeping up with Formula One.
