Brickell is an urban neighborhood of Greater Downtown Miami, Florida. In the early 1900s, Mary Brickell constructed many luxurious mansions along Brickell Avenue, which earned the area the nickname, “Millionaire’s Row”.

As the name implies, the Civic Center district of Miami has a concentration of public buildings, including universities, hospitals and government offices. The area is referred to by locals as the Health District since it is home to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami VA Medical Center, University of Miami Hospital (formerly Cedars Medical Center) and Holtz Children's Hospital.

Just south of Little Havana is Coral Way, named for the urban boulevard, SW 22nd Street (Coral Way), that runs from downtown Miami all the way through to the Ronald Reagan Turnpike. This corridor was established in 1922 with citrus-tree lined streets and later grew to have streetcar tracks down the center of the road. In 1929, a Roadside Beautification Program was started, and 1200 Banyan trees were planted along the median of the boulevard. Coral Way is still considered one of the most beautiful corridors in South Florida.

If waterfront views are your thing, then the Edgewater neighborhood is for you. Just north of Downtown Miami, Edgewater is located directly on Biscayne Bay. You’ll have views of the Venetian Islands and Pace Picnic Island, and quick access to Highway 195 so you can hop over to Miami Beach. Take a stroll along the Margaret Pace Park Baywalk, bring your fur baby to the dog park, or try your hand at sand volleyball. They’re all right in your front yard.

This neighborhood gets its unusual name through the combination of the Tamiami Canal, which flows eastward from the Everglades right by the neighborhood, and Flagler Street, which runs through the center of the town.

If you’re looking for a place to call home in Miami but travel frequently, the Grapeland Heights neighborhood of Miami may be for you. Located near the Miami International Airport, you can be out your door and on your next flight in under an hour. But don’t worry, the airport is to the West, so there won’t be planes flying overhead at all hours.

Characterized by the architecture and culture of the Caribbean, Little Haiti is the seat of Miami’s Haitian community. Located about five miles north of downtown Miami, Little Haiti is a wonderful place to sample authentic Haitian and Caribbean cuisine. Local businesses and eateries such as Chef Creole, the Caribbean Marketplace, and Bon Gout BBQ feature authentic dishes brimming with fish, lobster and shrimp, Haitian-style barbecue and traditional pork stews.

As the name implies, Little Havana is at the heart of Miami’s Cuban cultural scene, with Latin American art galleries, cigar shops, restaurants and music venues. Located on the southside of the neighborhood, Calle Ocho (Southwest Eighth Street) celebrates famous Latin artists, including Celia Cruz, Julio Iglesias and Gloria Estefan, on the Calle Ocho Walk of Fame. The thoroughfare is rich with bakeries, fruit stands, ice cream shops, murals, mosaic tiles and other symbols of Cuban heritage.

Named for the river that runs through the Northeast section of the area, Little River was established in the late 1800s. It is home to the Cathedral of St. Mary, the only cathedral in Miami and one that offers masses in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.

Midtown Miami sits at the intersection of Wynwood, Edgewater and the Miami Design District, slightly north of downtown. Due to the proximity of its artsy neighbors, Midtown is home to the Art Miami art fair, which takes place during Miami's Art Basel week.

Does this area really need any introductions? Once home to a range of stars and celebrities, the Miami Beach neighborhood remains to this day one of the areas with the most beautiful, luxurious hotels and condos in Florida. Stretching along the coastline and spanning Miami Beach’s Collins Ave from 41st Street to 62nd Street, Millionaire’s Row is a quiet residential area, which is gradually losing ground in terms of popularity and appeal to the younger, more dynamic, and more lively Venetian Islands, Sunset Harbor, and South of Fifth.

To the northwest of downtown Miami and immediately adjacent to Little Haiti sits Model City, more commonly known by local residents as Liberty City. The area stemmed from Franklin D. Roosevelt’s efforts during the Great Depression to construct one of the first housing projects of the South, which was named Liberty Square.

Overtown is a community with a rich and storied history. It was (and is) the historic center for commerce in the Black community in Miami and South Florida, was home to one of the first Black millionaires (Dane Albert Dorsey) and was the place of the original Booker T. Washington high School, the first high school to educate Black students south of Palm Beach. It also holds the distinction of being the second oldest continuously inhabited Miami neighborhood after Coconut Grove. Local residents often go by the name "Towners."

When Riverside was first established, it was a streetcar stop along the River Line from 1892 to 1949. Today, this historical neighborhood is capturing a lot of attention. Why, you might ask? From 2012 and 2020, the average price of a home sold in Riverside has nearly quadrupled. Another advantage is that it shares the same school district as parts of west Buckhead including top schools such as Bolton Academy for elementary age students, Sutton for middle school kids, and North Atlanta High School. Riverside residents get access to Buckhead schools without paying high Buckhead prices.

The small neighborhood of Spring Garden is nestled just northeast of downtown Miami and northwest of Little Havana. In 1997 Spring Garden was designated as an official Historic District in the City of Miami due to its significance "in the historical, archeological, and architectural heritage of the City of Miami.” It’s considered the oldest, single-family neighborhood still remaining intact along the Miami River which runs along its entire southwest border.

The Roads, which was originally called Brickell Hammock, was designed and developed by Mary Brickell in 1922, shortly before her death. She had designed The Roads as a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, with wide streets, median parkways and roundabouts with native Miami plants. It’s considered one of Miami’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Local children often attend one of the area private schools, including Beth David Religious School, Lincoln Marti School or St. Peter and Paul.

This neighborhood is named for the West Flaglar Street which runs from Bayfront Park all the way west to the Ronald Reagan Turnpike. Considered part of Little Havana, West Flaglar is surrounded by a variety of ethnic restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries, many with an emphasis on Cuban cuisine.

North of Downtown Miami, Wynwood is considered one of the world’s most hip and happening destinations. With converted warehouses, colorful murals and more than 70 eclectic art galleries, Wynwood is at the epicenter of style, art and culture in Miami.

The vertically-oriented Upper East Side is flanked on its entire East side by Biscayne Bay, affording residents 24-hour access to sailing, swimming, jet skiing and gorgeous waterfront views! Locals enjoy taking long strolls along the bay, winding through the paths of Morningside Park, or crossing over to the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve or Harbor Island.
