Just west of the White House and downtown Washington, the interestingly named Foggy Bottom is a neighborhood situated in Washington’s Northwest Quadrant.
As one of the city’s oldest districts, the area is still infused with that quintessential historic feel, while at the same time embracing and showing off a more modern vibe. Big, grand buildings in Foggy Bottom host embassies and both national and international organizations, such as the US Department of State and World Bank, as well as some tourist-favorite destinations including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The center is a memorial venue dedicated to President JFK, and it promotes all types of culture, spanning from music and drama, all the way to dance. Exciting performances are hosted here every day, attracting and inspiring both locals and visitors.
Foggy Bottom, though, is not all about politics and culture. Outdoor lovers can enjoy the beautiful Rock Creek Park, or walk and bike alongside the Potomac River.
For a spot of lunch or dinner, Foggy Bottom offers plenty of options. Brunch places, breweries, farmers’ markets, and more luxurious restaurants are all on the menu.
