Beltline-adjacent to the Southside Trail corridor, with moderately priced homes, and a convenient location three miles from downtown Atlanta and the airport, Lakewood Heights is a historic neighborhood in transition. Built in 1895 for its Black and Jewish working-class residents, Lakewood Heights now draws a mix of people to its famous 19,000-capacity music venue—the Cellairis Ampitheater.
Lakewood Heights residents are accustomed to seeing activity at its EUE Screen Gems soundstages and studios. Here at the 33-acre complex, major movies and television shows such as "Stranger Things" and "Black Panther" have been filmed.
Residents enjoy the use of the 77-acre South Bend Park for outdoor activities including a popular dog park. When fall high school football season is in full swing, Lakewood Heights is swarming with fans going to Lakewood Stadium, a 10,000-seat high school football coliseum, which is the largest owned and managed by Atlanta Public Schools.
Lakewood Heights is known for its array of homes, with fixer-uppers starting at $40,000, and the majority of century-old well-kept bungalows priced at the mid-$200,000s. New construction can be found on former empty lots priced as high as $600,000. Take a look at the Lakewood Heights historic district for some creative homes, some painted in bright orange, mint green, and periwinkle blue with whimsical stars, spiders, birds, giant hearts, and diamonds crawling up the façade.
