Bound by Benning Road to the north, C Street SE to the south, 15th Street NE to the west, and Anacostia Park to the east, Kingman Park is a residential district in Washington’s Northeast Quadrant.
Incorporated in 1928, much of the current architecture is still dating back to that period, displaying brick rowhouses (mostly of two stories) and small, multi-family building complexes.
The neighborhood owes its name to Brigadier General Dan Christie Kingman, former chief of the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
With a new District streetcar line being developed recently, the area has started to attract more potential residents. This has also meant that house prices in Kingman Park have begun to rise, and real estate investors and developers have flocked to this newly-found hidden gem.
Kingman Park is a very walkable, dog-friendly, and kid-friendly neighborhood, and the area displays an overall welcoming, relaxed feel that attracts both young professionals and families.
