Founded in 1891, Yukon, Oklahoma, was named in reference to a gold rush in Yukon Territory, Canada, at the time. It’s now primarily considered a bedroom community for people who work in nearby Oklahoma City. Covering 26.6 square miles, the town has a median age of 37.8 (2022), and an economy mostly driven by retail, healthcare, educational services, and utilities.

In addition to safe streets that are lined with Ranch, Craftsman, Contemporary, and Colonial-style homes, families in Yukon can enjoy large yards and green spaces. The typical home value is $249,111, which is an increase of 16.8% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). Adding to the town's appeal are annual events that include the Czech Festival, the Chisholm Trail and Crawfish Festival, and a country music festival, called “Rock the Route.”

Yukon lies just north of I-40, and is served by U.S. Route 66 and state highways 4 and 92. Just south of Route 66 is one of the town’s best neighborhoods, Sunrise Hills. It’s an older, established area that contains single-family homes. Also notable is Von Elm East, near I-40, which is filled with an assortment of homes in various sizes and styles, at affordable prices.

Yukon has been named one of the best places to live in the U.S. by Money magazine. Residents who work in the city but don’t care for the crowds and noise find the town offers more safety and open space.
