Tucked into the Green Mountains of central Vermont is the town of Killington, or “K-Town,” as the locals call it. Chartered in 1761 and now encompassing 46.8 square miles, its median age is 47.6 (2022). Retail, hospitality, recreation, and tourism are drivers of its economy.

Killington has some of the highest and most varied mountain terrain in all of New England, and contains a popular ski area, Killington Resort. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, residents can enjoy annual events, such as Subaru WinterFest, VT Green Up Day, and the Sink or Swim Pond Skim, which involves skiing across an icy pond while wearing a costume.

Killington lies at the junction of Routes 4 and 100. The town is small and doesn’t have a downtown, per se. Shops and amenities are spread out, but there are plenty of them: bars, restaurants, winter sports shops, and convenience stores.

The Killington region is a haven for outdoor activities throughout the year. The area includes 18 golf courses, access to hiking and mountain biking in the Green Mountains, and options for simply relaxing. Beautiful scenery and a good quality of life are among the other reasons why residents call Killington home.
