Stamford

Stamford, Connecticut, has something for everyone: from bustling downtown attractions to waterfront parks and marinas to quieter northern neighborhoods. The 52 square-mile city was founded in 1641. Today, its curvilinear streets and location on Long Island Sound add to its charm. Its median age is 37.9 (2022). Major industries include retail, tourism, transportation, healthcare, technology, telecommunications, and financial services.

Stamford offers homebuyers modest Colonial-style homes, sleek condos in the Harbor Point neighborhood, just south of the I-95, waterside estates in Shippan Point further south, and country homes north of Merritt Parkway. The typical home value is $601,072, up 7.3% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). The city’s annual events are as varied as its housing options: Both residents and visitors can enjoy an outdoor summer concert series, farmer’s markets, and beer and food festivals.

Among the neighborhoods accessible via the east-west Merritt Parkway is Springdale, which is known for having a small-town feel but still being close to the action. Further south, also running east-west, is U.S. Highway 1. It offers proximity to the more urban Glenbrook neighborhood, which has a pretty even split between homeowners and renters.

In vibrant Stamford, there’s always something to do, whether it be strolling along its 19 miles of shoreline, dining downtown, or hiking scenic trails.
