In 1965, the Stardust Resort and Casino built the Stardust International Raceway, but it was sold in 1969 to a buyer who had no interest at all in keeping the raceway running. Parvin Dohrmann Corporation leased the raceway for a year before selling it to Pardee Homes. They immediately began developing the area for housing, and they named it Spring Valley.
Spring Valley is nestled between Warm Springs Road to the south, Hualapai Way to the west, Sahara Avenue to the north, and Decatur Boulevard to the east. The neighborhood consists of several housing subdivisions. The large boulevards that connect suburban Las Vegas to the Strip are lined with strip malls in this area.
Residents of Spring Valley appreciate it for its safety, diversity, and family-friendly feel. There are plenty of places to walk your dog, and your nearest convenience store is never far away. It says a lot about this neighborhood that there is hardly any crime–not even in the most built-up areas. Spring Valley is another neighborhood to watch if you are looking to raise a family.
