Logan Circle

Owing its name to the traffic roundabout located at its southern end – which, in turn, is named after Civil War general John Logan – Logan Circle is another one of Washington’s historic districts, located in the Northwest Quadrant of the city.

Today, the area is mostly residential, which makes it the only major traffic circle of this kind in the downtown part of Washington.

The main business area in Logan Circle is 14th Street NW, which hosts plenty of stylish eateries, independent boutiques, and hip bars and clubs.

A day out in Logan Circle offers something for everyone. From cool shopping trips to places like Salt & Sundry to a spot of antique art and furniture at Miss Pixie’s Furnishings & Whatnot, lovers of vintage and retro flock to the area, especially at the weekend.

Many of Logan Circle’s historic buildings have been converted into uber-cool breweries and diners, providing foodies with a huge selection of dishes, beers, and cocktails.

To top off a day in Logan Circle, you can’t miss a sample of its renowned nightlife. Start with a discounted drink at a local happy hour bar, and hop on the dancefloor or enjoy great indie bands at one of the area’s many live music venues.
