Characterized by the architecture and culture of the Caribbean, Little Haiti is the seat of Miami’s Haitian community. Located about five miles north of downtown Miami, Little Haiti is a wonderful place to sample authentic Haitian and Caribbean cuisine. Local businesses and eateries such as Chef Creole, the Caribbean Marketplace, and Bon Gout BBQ feature authentic dishes brimming with fish, lobster and shrimp, Haitian-style barbecue and traditional pork stews.

The area now called Little Haiti was referred to as Lemon City for more than a century. A bronze statue of the father of the Haitian Revolution, General Toussaint L'Ouverture, stands thirteen feet tall not far from the Little Haiti Soccer Park. Other small parks are tucked away in this lively area, including the Athalie Range Park and nearby Legion Park.

Little Haiti boasts a thriving arts and music scene, with contemporary galleries, theaters and the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, where you can find Haitian art on display. On any given night, you’ll find dance, music, hip restaurants and other cultural activities on its vibrant and diverse streets. Neighboring Wynwood and the Miami Design District, already popular arts and culture havens, have elevated the artistic energy of Little Haiti.
