Capitol View

Named for its view of the glittering gold-domed Georgia State Capitol building, Capitol View, a longtime Black neighborhood in Southwest Atlanta, has been gaining in popularity due to its proximity to two breweries, restaurants, and the ever-popular Atlanta Beltline. It has an active Capitol View Neighborhood Association that promotes festivals and community concerts.

Homes in Capitol View vary from those built from 1915-1925 with architectural styles of Craftsman bungalows and even earlier historic Queen Anne houses that preceded its planned development. Many of these historic homes being purchased by new residents who rapidly renovate them. These renovations are being priced as high as $500,000 for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom single family home. You’ll even find AirBnB guest suites in Capitol View advertising their close location to Emory and Grady Memorial Hospital. The neighborhood attracts a variety of residents, from young professionals to senior citizens living at the Gateway Capitol View Apartments.

One of the perks of living in Capitol View is the proximity to the popular Atlanta BeltLine, which runs through the northern part of the Capitol View neighborhood. Families also enjoy the proximity to 50-acre Perkerson Park, where you’ll find your neighbors cooking, shooting hoops, splashing in the fountains on a hot summer day, or joining a Frisbee team. There’s also the Alum Organic Farm where you can purchase fresh locally grown organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs at its weekly farmer’s market.
