A quaint community on the smaller side, West Congress is a largely residential neighborhood. With borders to Hwy. 71 in the north, here you will find many ranch-style homes along with many apartment complexes. This area is populated largely by families and college students attending St. Edward’s University.

The area can be described as very low key, with close proximity to spots like SoCo and downtown when residents need some excitement. With less of the hustle and bustle that much of the city can be known for, locals here enjoy being a little removed from the hubbub.

Restaurants in the area include First Wok, La Flor, and Double Trouble BBQ. Residents can grab their morning coffee from Hill’s Cafe and drinks after work from 512 Brewing Company. West Congress is also part of the greater Congress Avenue music scene, something Austin is famed for.

West Congress is served by the Austin Independent School District, which has many of the premiere public schools in the state.
