Reno

Sitting in the High Eastern Sierra foothills of northwest Nevada is Reno. The city, which has a total area of 111.7 square miles, is also referred to as the “Biggest Little City in the World,” since it offers numerous amenities for a place of its size. Founded in 1868, its median age today is 36.1 (2022). Gaming and hospitality are the main drivers of its economy.

Homebuyers in Reno will discover old brick homes and Colonial Revival-style houses among more modern residences. The typical home value is $556,660, up 6.3% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). Adding to Reno’s appeal are annual events, including the Reno Earth Day Celebration, the Reno Jazz Festival, the Reno River Festival, and the Fall Fish Festival.

The main highways running through Reno are the east-west I-80 and north-south 580. Just south of I-80 and west of Midtown is the walkable Old Southwest neighborhood, which is full of unique and well-preserved historic homes. Further south are Reno’s newest neighborhoods, South Meadows and Double Diamond, which feature large stucco-style houses. Nearby Damonte Ranch is a master-planned community containing houses, condos, and apartments.

Reno has so much variety to enjoy on its doorstep, including access to Lake Tahoe, a flourishing arts scene, and craft breweries and distilleries.
