Founded in 1836, it lies across 655 square miles, and has a median age of 33.3 (2022). Its economy’s main sectors are energy, healthcare, aerospace, and biomedical research.

The city hosts annual events for just about every interest, such as the Art Car Parade, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Renaissance Festival, and the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival.

The city is served by interstate highway 10, 45, 69, and 610. Adjacent to I-69 is the neighborhood of Braeburn, where tree-lined streets and Mid-Century Modern homes take center stage. Garden Oaks, which lies off I-610 further north, offers traditional-style plantation homes and quaint cottages. And Montrose is the area for anyone who wants to taste the best food in the city, and who appreciates murals and art galleries.

From cultural diversity to warm weather year-round and no state income tax, Houston has so much to offer both visitors and residents.
