Bloomington

In 1818, “a haven of blooms” impressed a group of settlers from Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and the Carolinas so much that they called the place nestled in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, Bloomington. Today, known as the “Gateway to Scenic Southern Indiana,” Bloomington spans 23.4 square miles of varied topography, with access to hills, lakes, and forests. Its median age is 24 (2022), and its major industries include education, technology, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing.

Homes in Bloomington include cottages, bungalows, kit houses, and Ranch-style homes. The average price of a house is $309,194, which is up 14.3% over the past year (Zillow, 2022). There’s always something to do here: Annual events are plentiful and varied, and include the Taste of Bloomington Festival, the Limestone Comedy Festival, and B’Town Jazz Fest.

The main interstate highway serving Bloomington on its western edge is the north-south I-69. Other major thoroughfares include State Road 45, which is close to the Tamarron neighborhood. This area features a mix of condos and single-family homes, and proximity to the Indiana University campus. Homebuyers looking for newer construction will find it in The Highlands, which has entrances off Rockport Road, just off the I-69.

Bloomington’s distinctive personality invites everyone to participate in community building, welcoming ideas and people from around the world.
